Popular comedian, actor and clergyman Woli Arole has warned his followers against taking on debt to impress others, saying the pressure to maintain an appearance of wealth is leaving many people struggling silently.
The entertainer made the appeal in a post shared on his verified Instagram account, where he urged people to embrace contentment, repay money they owe and learn to live within their means.
In his message, Arole cautioned against borrowing money or spending beyond one’s financial capacity simply to impress others, stressing that the burden of debt can take a serious toll on people’s peace and well-being.
“Please, I beg you, in God’s name, try every means not to be in DEBT, find every means to return people’s money, try every means not to live beyond your MEANS, try every means not to IMPRESS. A lot of people are dying silently because of DEBTS Ooooo!!!,” he wrote.
His message has attracted reactions from followers, with many agreeing with his warning and sharing experiences about the mental and emotional strain associated with debt.
Born Bayegun Oluwatoyin, Woli Arole is known for combining comedy with Christian ministry. He has also used his social media platform to address issues surrounding faith, relationships and other aspects of everyday life.
